Has anyone attended or is attending Choate Rosemary Hall boarding school?

Do you like it? What's it like? What kind of personalities are good for Choate? I've been very interested in Choate for around a year and I was curious on peoples opinions from people who have attended there.

Choate is known as an "artsy" school. But this does not mean that they have crappy academics. In fact, they're far from crappy (more than 200 couses to choose from). It's probably more relaxed though, compared to other schools of its caliber. There are a lot of students (for me anyway) and the buildings are scattered everywhere. The campus is pretty much near urban areas - students cross roads to get to class. They say dorms aren't that big, but they do have internet access and telephone ports. Choaties are nice, welcoming and diverse. I think they just got their first kid from the Middle East. 9th graders hang out with seniors, upperclassmen with new 10th graders...you get the idea. They're not at all intimidating.

It's hard to tell which personalities are good for Choate. Like I said, it's a diverse school. In an artist's perspective, he/she could tell it's obviously a great school just by looking at the viewbook. Athletically, like New England boarding schools, ice hockey is a big thing. They recruit heavily and will offer a lot of financial aid if you ever need it. There's this girl who's graduating this year, Hillary Knight (?), who is part of the 2006 US Women's Select Team.

It's a great school. Apply and hope for the best.

Good luck.
